Goodbye Blinky

June 8th 2020

This is the day Blinky stopped breathing.
We kept thinking it was one of the moods of the Oscar fish, they are known for sulking sometimes. Sadly we noticed it's gills weren't moving, and it was just laying there. We isolated her (or him? It's hard to tell) in the hopes that a revival was possible. It was a long Monday.

I remember spending Sunday feeding her by hand and mentioning to my dad that we should bring live feed, since she didn't seem to like the pellets much.

Bop seemed agitated as well. She must have known something was wrong with Blinky. We buried Blinky right behind the house. My mom was too shocked to attend at all. One keeps hearing people coping with the loss of a pet. I was naive to think that it wouldn't happen to me for a very long time. Just like that, without any sign, Blinky left us.

She will be missed by all of us. I don't really think I could have more pets if this is what it would mean in the long term.

Goodbye Blinky. I miss you. Your eagerness to come to me when called, and your graceful swimming which lulled me to sleep, your quiet inquisitive company will be remembered. Mom and Dad miss you too. Bop perhaps, misses you the most.

Rest in peace

I'm so sorry for your loss.
But yes, this is what it is. And people get new pets.
Remember happier?
