Dream Sequence Ch.2
The girl lets go of this green-haired guy’s hand. She is
wearing all black (leather). She looks at him a little confused. And then as though
she remembers-looks up at him and smiles uncertainly. The green-haired kid
looks confused, and a little scared. He holds her hand again and they walk
towards the bus stop (which I didn't notice before). The next scene shows our love birds at some deserted
area. She walks ahead and we see that the place is literally dead, bereft of
all trees and animal life. A few abandoned houses seem to live in gloomy
acceptance of the inevitable. Too post-apocalyptic? It got confusing here. Some
women and little children see her, this blonde , tanned girl that seems to hold
her own in this desolate land - they are drawn to her. In contrast the green-haired,
pale boy behind her seems like a disease. However they barely notice him- they
all crowd around her. They beseech her to help them. And as though she knew all
along what to expect she walks slowly - All these lost souls seem to follow her
– she reaches a barren field, and sits there. She begins to sing and tears
softly fall around her. Her voice is clear as crystal – and we notice that her
tears drop on to the soil. The clouds seem to gather right where she sits and
lo – behold it rains, and it doesn’t too – it’s too hazy to make out, but
within seconds there are tiny trees sprouting everywhere.
Amid all this hustle, we do not see the green-haired boy. It
is only her, and the plants(bonsai? I am not sure anymore) growing fast and one of the women whispering into
her ear, words of encouragement and suggesting that she continue her good work,
and how she was helping the Earth.
And in a sort of flash back we see them both in an old
house, with the girl at the window sill. She is looking at some pot with no
plant in it. I realize that they have just undergone the transformation and she
doesn’t know what it means yet.
The green haired guy (let’s call him J) comes
in with food and places it on a table next to her. You can see that he is
worried about her, but doesn’t know what to do, so he boisterously begins
talking about everything he did today. You can see him thinking about how he
controls people with his mind. He can force people to kill themselves; he has
already tried it today. He managed to pick a fight with some mafia boss and overthrows
him. It’s a small victory, but he feels like he rules the town. Thinking of
this and of his next move he settles down on the bed. He doesn’t feel the need
to eat, and feels content, the girl momentarily forgotten, but always on his
mind.
We see that while he talks, the girl (calling her Z –
because she has no name throughout the story) starts to cry. She is listening
to him speak and it’s tearing her apart – she had never wanted this and only
agreed to it because of him. Tears glisten and she lets them fall – it’s a
first for her. And then she sees the clouds gather – right outside the window,
and a tiny plant sprout in the pot she holds. She is very surprised and drops
it. It falls on the table and the plant continues to grow.
J looks up and comes over. He notices her tears, and looks
at the plant. Trying to help he picks it up and touches a leaf. And almost
immediately, the plant shrivels up, turns black and to dust. Z is horrified and
J can’t explain. He is scared, and tries apologizing, saying he didn’t know.
She looks at him like she is seeing him for the first time. He is terrified now
and tries to reach for her. She shrinks away staring and uncomprehending. He
looks hurt (and I can feel the pain – this was an emotional roller coaster,
feeling what each character does :/) and curls up his hand. They both stay like
this for a while. The rains recede and everything calms down. Finally she tells
him that she wishes to help and be of some use. She requests him to continue
with whatever it was he was doing. And asks him to stay out of her way because
he could only kill anything she creates. He maintains a poker face and agrees.
And that’s where I will stop for now.
