On picking locks...
Hey there!
Ok, so before you read my pathetic attempt at reporting this incident, you should probably save yourself some time and read Whisper's blog, where she has chronicled it well. It has pictures too!

Whisper : you really didn't have to add the coconut oil. -_-
One of my friends (S , if you read my blog at all) came back to E-city for a tiny amount of time (We miss you, and I wish we were back in our old rooms). While we kept talking and talking for most of the time, the question of where would she stay was in all of our minds. Our hostel doesn't let outsiders (read - parents, siblings, friends) inside the hostel premises. But random people hired for repairs are let in without so much as a ccoooeee!
Well, we sneaked her in that night. Technically it wasn't wrong because she still does belong to our college. (Not that rules actually mattered at that point of time). Now, all of us thought it would be alright to spread a few mattresses and spend the night. However, MnM had a different plan, and decided to use a friend's room that wasn't occupied at the moment. (This friend is B. I have written about her as well!) B had gone away for the weekend. Her room was locked. We had no key.
We bravely decided to go for a hairpin (and other assorted hair clips) to jiggle the lock like we see in movies, and open the treasure chest (room in this case) . There we were, all huddled up, and picking it like we knew what we were doing. No such luck, because opening locks is hard folks! There is a whole lot of stuff that goes into it (Seriously though, I wish I knew how to do so. It's such a cool skill to have). Then P had this brilliant idea. Since it was a padlock, instead of breaking the lock itself , we could just unscrew the whole latch and swing the door open! She also had a screwdriver handy! The whole thing took all of 5 minutes. And the cheering at midnight on our floor was worthy of a lifetime-achievement award.
B, I wish I could have seen your reaction to coming up to our floor and looking at your lock, latch and all hanging to the side, and the door to your own room locked from the inside. Stay golden baby!! And S, do come soon - such adventures are harder to find with all of us living in our own tiny worlds. Your arrival actually brought us all together for a brief amount of time :)
Until next time!
